It's a place where love seems to flow freely. A place where there are no bad memories. You can't help but be wrapped in Gods awesome power at Rosario Beach.
At Rosario, you not only hear and feel the blowing of the wind, but you can taste it, you can smell it, and you can see it. The wind, the rocks, and the trees seem to whisper Gods greatness over the islands. The awe is tremendous.
Even as you enter the parking area, you know that you have entered another world. The trails here are like the vast expansion of the heavens. With each turn there are new visions. If you go straight, you will come to the picnic area, with the beach and ocean to your right and a small bay area to your lower left. There are boats resting everywhere in the bay, but only at Rosario is there a small discolored dock with one or two tiny boats. On the ocean side you can see forever, but you tend to concentrate on the hot sand and rocks underneath your feet. At high tide, the ocean waves lap up onto the rocks, feeding the small ocean critters living there in the tidal pools. The tiny China Hats and Sea Annenomies that squirt water at you when they are poked with a finger or toe.
All around you there are rocks. Some are small and some are suitable for rock climbing. The rock above the tidal pools is perfect. The slope is just so that you can almost safely climb up to the lookout above. When that tiring, but energizing climb is done, you walk a few paces till you are standing on the open cliffs of the rock. The first thing you do is walk to the edge of the cliff and take a downward glance at the ocean as it tries to knock down the rocks with its powerful hands. What would it be like to fall off?
A person could sit for hours on the cliff rock and observe the amazing sunset. All the oranges, reds, yellows and pinks mixed harmoniously together. In the background there are the roaring of boat motors, children playing and laughing, fish freely leaping in the bay, and the wind softly moving throughout the leaves on the trees. All of this seems to blend into one romantic mood set that has been prepared for us by a Great Divine Power from above.
As a child, I remember running on the vast trails, stopping only to climb out to dangerous places and peel the bark of the strange, twisted Madrona trees. I remember stopping by the Watching Rock to jump on the hollow sounding spot on the ground. I was told that if I jump too much, I might fall through. That made the jumping more fun.
No bad memories accompany you at Rosario Beach. When you're there on the cliff rock, all you can think about are wonderful things. All the love God has given this universe. The true love for that one special person. You are free to explore you deepest thoughts and feelings. The cliff rock is the place of absolute peacefulness. Even when it rains inside and out.

And it's also the place where my husband proposed to me over 2 years later.
