At my sons hockey practice tonight, we were informed that the association had to combine the two teams into one because of a lack of players. Of course there wasn't a lack of goalies so some had to be cut. My son was one of them.
They gave him a few options, such as playing a level below where he is--a house team. Or playing for one of the surrounding towns. That is the best option right now. I have sent out some emails to coaches hoping that someone is in need of a goalie.
He is just as good as the other kids, this is not just a mother talking, but I have a feeling he gets the boot because he is small. And small+goalie=not beneficial. Sucks. Hopefully, one of the other teams will recognize his ability and have room. Otherwise, down he goes to the lower level. That won't be any help at all in preparing him for high school hockey, if he plays.
He feels terrible and doesn't want to play with one particular town. They don't have a stellar reputation.
We have to make a decision in the next few days. If you're the praying type, he sure could use some godly intervention. Not a biggie for an adult, but huge for a 13 year old. Thanks.
