Greetings from the great state of Maine!
Spring decided to show it's face this week and we enjoyed a couple days of warmer weather. Windy, but finally into the 50's. Yes, that's warmer weather here.
S. had spent last week as a sickie on the couch. This week wasn't too different. She was okay Monday and Tuesday, then the fever came back Wednesday and Thursday.
Monday S. was really not operating to 100% and therefore, it was really hard to get any work done. It just wasn't happening. She went to gymnastics that night, but I pulled her out early seeing how exhausted she looked.
List of accomplished things:
- I taught S. how to iron a mans shirt and pants. D. had a job interview that night at Funtown/Splashtown and needed some ironing done.
- Math U See -- Lesson 23, pages D, E and part of F. I had her take an online test on Monday...she did terrible and that really showed me that her body may be better, but her brain was still tired.
- Grammar, usually Rod and Staff 3 -- No Rod and Staff 3. We did a Grammar test online also. She did pretty well on that.
- Bible, Explorers Study Bible -- Nothing...Read from John everyday and talked.
- Spelling Workout C -- Skipped lessons 28-31 and instead I gave her a long spelling test on each word. At the end of that, we wrote down the words she missed and worked on those during the week. We didn't write down the rules, or even read them. Bad mommy.
- History, Science, Latin -- zip, nada, nothing.
- Little house on the Prairie, book 5 -- We read a lot.
- S. did some sewing. She was working on a simple, little pillow for her Build-A-Bear bunny, Mimzie. She finished it and stuffed it.
Her first sewing project. Laura Ingalls did it, so S. wanted to also.
We just used cotton balls to stuff the pillow. And Mimzie was a very happy bunny!
On Wednesday, I did her hair. It's always nice to have your hair special when you arn't feeling special!
Thursday I took her outside, even though she still had a fever. She had been inside for so long....by that night she was feeling better. Normal temp!
Friday she was normal and I was happy! With the hair still nicely done, we spent lots of time outside working. I was building up the edge of the front yard and digging out the middle of the pond. S. was breaking up the soil for me.....
working her hardest.....
"I'm gonna get you, dirt!"
"Wow, this is hard!"
It's a work in progress, but we are getting there.
And as for the week in school? It's a work in progress too, but we're getting there!
